Mobile signal can be weak or completely absent in some parts of the mountain roads and deep inside the fjords. Before you leave, download an offline map of the route from Dubai to Khasab. Google Maps and Maps.me both allow offline downloads. This saves you from getting confused on the mountain roads where there are very few signs and no signal to help you.

Health and Motion Sickness

If you know you get sea sick or car sick easily, take medicine before you get on the boat or start the mountain drive. The fjord waters are usually calm but the boat does move and for sensitive people it can cause nausea. The mountain roads also have a lot of twists and turns. Best Time to Visit

The best months are October to April. During this time the weather is cool, the sky is clear, and everything about the trip is more comfortable and enjoyable. May to September is very hot and humid. It does not mean you cannot go in summer but you will feel the heat strongly especially on the boat with the sun directly above you. If you have a choice, plan your trip in the cooler months.

Respect Local Culture

Musandam is part of Oman and Oman is a conservative Muslim country. You do not need to dress very formally but be respectful. When you are in Khasab town or near local villages, wear clothes that cover your shoulders and knees. On the boat during swimming and snorkeling, swimwear is perfectly fine. Just be mindful of where you are and dress accordingly. Locals are very friendly and welcoming but basic respect goes a long way.

Food and Water on the Tour

Leaving late means you lose hours that you could be spending on the water. The early morning drive through the mountains is also really beautiful and worth experiencing with fresh eyes.
