U4GM Diablo 4: How to Level Warlock Fast in S13

Level Warlock faster in Diablo 4 Season 13 with Dread Claws, Minions, patch fixes, Soulshards, gear tips, and a smooth Helltide route.

Warlock leveling in Season 13 feels strong, but not brainless. You don't just sprint through the map deleting everything from level 1. Early on, the class can feel a bit heavy, especially before Soulshards and better resource tools come online. That's why many players are planning routes, gear swaps, and even economy choices around things like D4 Gold before pushing hard into Helltides, Whispers, and later Strongholds. Based on the current build data, Dread Claws and Minion Warlock are the safest leveling picks, both sitting in A Tier, while Hell Fracture, Blazing Scream, and Eviscerate look more like solid but slower B Tier options.

Why Dread Claws Leads the Pack

Dread Claws keeps showing up for a reason. It appears across Maxroll, Mobalytics, and creator build lists, which usually means players aren't just theorycrafting it in a vacuum. The appeal is simple: decent damage, workable safety, and a loop that doesn't ask for perfect gear right away. Several versions pair Dread Claws with Command Fallen, Rampage, Nether Step, Sigil of Subversion, or Summon Laalish. You'll quickly notice the pattern. Hit hard, keep demons active, move when needed, and don't let Wrath or Dominance fall apart. It's not the flashiest setup, but for a season start, boring consistency often wins.

Minions Are Safer, But Slower

Minion Warlock is the other clear A Tier choice. It's friendly for players who don't want to press six buttons every second, and it has a nice safety net because demons do plenty of work for you. The common setup leans into Sigil of Summons, Command Fallen, Bombardment, Rampage, and Fiend of Abaddon. Legion Shard and Spawn Fragment matter a lot here, since they help fill the screen with Lesser Demons and make sacrifice effects easier to maintain. The trade-off is movement. Minion builds aren't usually the fastest route across the world, and Warlock already has weaker traversal than other classes before mount access solves part of the problem.

Patch 3.0.3 Changed the Feel More Than the Rankings

Patch 3.0.3 didn't suddenly turn every Warlock build upside down, but it did clean up a lot of annoying bugs. Sigil Duration now works more consistently. Sigil-modified skills behave better after Tempering. Sigil of Subversion's movement speed upgrade was fixed, which matters more than it sounds when you're grinding open-world content. There were also fixes for Tortured Wretch, Apocalypse Annihilation stacks, Aspect of Malevolence, Mutilation Aspect with Evisceration Fragment, and Sigil of Summons Hellwyrm with Blazing Scream skulls. So if an older guide felt strange in practice, it may have been fighting broken interactions rather than bad build logic.

Best Leveling Route for Most Players

Start on Hard, not Expert, unless your damage is already cruising. Warlock needs clean kill speed because Season 13's Killstreak system rewards keeping the chain going. Helltides are still the main workhorse: experience, Whispers, gold, materials, boss parts, recipes, Legendaries, and the occasional Unique all come from the same loop. After level 50, Strongholds become much more attractive because the first-clear experience scales well. Once Whispers hand you Nightmare Sigils, mix in Nightmare Dungeons for more rewards and progression. Kurast Undercity can also help once available, especially if you want targeted rewards through Tributes and Bargains.

What to Avoid While Leveling

Don't build around Mythic items as if they're required. Harlequin Crest or El'druin may make a setup smoother, but Minion Warlock and Dread Claws can function without them. Don't burn early Paragon points finishing every board either; rushing useful Legendary bonuses is usually better. Also, ignore talk about the old infinite Goblin War Plan trick, since patch 3.0.3 fixed that exploit. If you're managing alts, upgrades, and crafting costs, some players may choose to buy cheap D4 Gold to save time, but smart routing and a stable A Tier build still matter more than chasing every shiny item too early.
